What is Female Fertility Testing?

Female fertility tests help us uncover any potential causes of infertility. This allows our specialists to create a more personalized treatment plan.

During your testing, we’ll go over your medical and family history in depth. We’ll also ask about any ovulation or menstrual cycle issues you may have. We will ask that you provide us with your detailed medical history and relevant medical records, and it’s a good idea to bring any documentation or tracking of your menstrual cycles to help us better identify issues.

Female fertility tests often include a pelvic exam and blood tests to check your hormone levels as well as the number of potential eggs in the ovaries. Additionally, we may recommend a small procedure to check for any structural causes of infertility. These procedures are minimally invasive, resulting in a short recovery period and little to no scarring.

When Should I Schedule Fertility Testing?

Infertility is a common issue experienced by as many as 1 in 5 women in the United States. We recommend that women under 35 schedule fertility testing after one year of trying to conceive, and women over 35 schedule testing after six months.

In addition to these age guidelines, you may want to consider fertility testing if:

  • You have any diagnosed reproductive conditions, such as endometriosis or PCOS.
  • You experience heavy, absent, or irregular menstruation cycles.
  • You have experienced recurrent miscarriages.
  • You have a family history of infertility.
  • You have a partner who experiences male infertility.

Any of these conditions can impact fertility and your ability to conceive. The more we uncover from your fertility tests, the more likely your fertility treatment plan will succeed.

How is Infertility Treated?

If you struggle with infertility, you still have plenty of options for growing your family. The fertility specialists at First Fertility can use your fertility tests to create a personalized treatment plan that helps you successfully have a baby.

For infertility in women, we may recommend IUI or IVF. These methods of assisted reproduction allow us to more directly influence the fertilization process and improve the chance of pregnancy. We can also use donor eggs or sperm to help infertile individuals as well as our LGBTQ+ community have children.

For women who are not ready to have a baby now but want to pause their biological clock to have a baby later in life, egg freezing is another treatment option that our centers provide.
